Sri Lanka tour of South Africa, 2019

The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

The Bull Ring could be absolutely intimidating for the visitors as the crowd really gets behind the home team. There is a prediction of an isolated thunderstorm during the evening but that might not affect the game much.

Match Overview

Srilanka cricket team have made a comeback but remain few steps short of winning the T20 matches against South Africa. In 1st T20 they took the match close but that match got tied and in 2nd T20 the top order collapsed but in the end I Udana showed his hitting skills by scoring 84 runs in just 48 deliveries. No one supported him from another end which resulted in a defeat. Srilanka cricket team top order is not playing in their top form and getting collapsed in every match if the team has to win this 3rd T20I against South Africa, the top order has to contribute otherwise there is no chance for Srilanka to win this series.

N Dickwella and W Fernando will open the innings for Srilanka and in the middle order, Mendis along with Perera will give the team required stability during the match. In this match, everyone will look forward to I Udana expecting one more brilliant innings from him in this match.

Under the guidance of their experience bowler Malinga he bowling line up is performing well, but due to less experience, they are finding it tough to cope up with the conditions.

Fantasy Tips

Wicket-Keeper

  • MS Dhoni, Chennai’s adopted son, will take guard once again in front of the raucous crowd at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. He is one of the most successful cricketers in the competition, and will be a key figure for CSK this season.

Batsmen

  • Faf Du Plessis, the South African skipper, comes into the IPL on the back of an extremely successful series against Sri Lanka.
  • The 34-year-old is likely to open the batting alongside Shane Watson, and his contribution at the top of the order will be vital to their campaign this season.
  • Virat Kohli, the highest run-scorer for RCB in the tournament, will be the lynchpin of their batting order once again. The India skipper will be desperate to end his team’s trophy drought in the league this season.
  • AB de Villiers might have retired from international cricket, but remains one of the most destructive batsmen in the world today. He has notched up scores of 33, 47*, 45* and 52* in his last four T20 innings.
  • Shimron Hetymer has been one of the most consistent players over the last few months, and has made a name for himself in limited overs cricket. He recently notched up an unbeaten century against England in Bridgetown.

All-Rounders

  • Ravindra Jadeja, who was out of India’s white-ball squad for quite a while, has now made an inspired comeback into the ODI set-up. He will be motivated to make this IPL count, as his World Cup hopes hinge on his showing here.
  • Kedar Jadhav played a riveting knock for CSK in the first match of the 2018 edition, taking them to a stunning last-ball victory. However, he got injured in that very game, which ruled him out of the rest of the season. This time, he will want to grab the opportunity with both hands.
  • Colin de Grandhomme is handy with both bat and ball, and could play a crucial role in the death overs of both innings.

Bowlers

  • Imran Tahir, one of the most experienced bowlers in the shortest format of the game, will be an important player for CSK, particularly on the spin-friendly pitch in Chepauk. He has a terrific bowling average of 15.04 in T20I cricket.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal, with 154 T20 wickets, is a smart bowler and one of the foremost spinners in the world right now. He had an average series against Australia and will want to get back to his best in the IPL. The track in Chennai is likely to assist him on Saturday.
  • Tim Southee is an effective new-ball bowler, and RCB will look to him to get the early breakthroughs and stop CSK’s destructive top order from going on a rampage.

Players to Watch out

Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Dwyane Bravo are must picks for this high voltage clash.

Match Overview

After whitewashing the Proteas in their own backyard in the Tests, Sri Lanka have failed to continue their assault in the limited overs. The South Africans completed their revenge when they won the ODI series 5-0 and also began the T20I series with a win in the Super Over.

For Sri Lanka, this is a do-or-die match as losing this would mean that the series is lost. While their Test victories will give them hope, their atrocious performances in white-ball cricket is a cause of huge concern ahead of the World Cup.

Fantasy Tips

Wicket-Keeper

  • Everyone knows what David Miller is capable of in the shortest format of the international game. The southpaw scored 41 runs from 23 balls in the last game and was the best batsman for his team.

Batsmen

  • Angelo Perera is a new face in the international circuit and he is yet to pick up in the top level. He got a start in the last match as he scored 16 from 18 balls but will want to do better in the next game.
  • Reeza Hendricks didn’t have a good outing in the first T20I of the series as he made just 8 from 8 balls. However, he would like to make a comeback in the next game.
  • Rassie van der Dussen, meanwhile, chipped decently in the last game as he scored 34 from 30 balls for his team.

All-Rounders

  • Dhananjaya had a decent game as he took a wicket with the ball in his hand and also chipped in with 14 runs with the bat.
  • Kamindu Mendis, meanwhile, was the best batsman for his team as he scored 41 from 29 balls with the bat. He was given just the single over, so he couldn’t stamp his authority there.
  • Andile Phehlukwayo took three wickets with the ball and he was the pick of the bowlers in the last game.

Bowlers

  • Lasith Malinga showed why he is still among the very best when it comes to bowling in the death overs. The Sri Lankan pacer ended up with two wickets to his name and gave away only 11 runs in his four overs.
  • Isuru Udana, meanwhile, might have given away 32 runs from his three overs but when he was handed the ball to bowl the last over in the game, he gave away just four runs and managed to stop South African from crossing the target.
  • Akila Dananjaya was also good with the ball as he took a wicket and gave away 28 runs in his four overs.
  • Dale Steyn, He was decent in the last game, taking a wicket in his four overs while giving away only 25 runs.

Players to Watch out

The must-haves for the clash are Miller, van der Dussen, Perera and Malinga.

Sri Lanka Women vs England Women, 3rd ODI

England Women tour of Sri Lanka, 2019

Air Force Ground, Katunayake

Mar 21, 09:50 AM LOCAL

Pitch Profile & Stats

The surface here can be tricky for the batters and it will be ideal for the team winning the toss to bat first and set the target. The highest score here in the one-day format is 300 while the lowest is 68.

The bowlers can expect plenty of assistance from the surface and it won’t be a surprise if the match ends up as a low-scoring affair.

No Pitch stats available for this pitch, because this is the 1st match on this pitch.

Match Overview

England, as expected, have been miles ahead in the contest against Sri Lanka and have already wrapped up the ODI series with a couple of convincing wins at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota.

The final match of the series to be played at the Air Force Ground in Katunayake is also expected to be a one-sided contest. Batting has been a big letdown for Sri Lanka and on a surface which is expected to aid the bowlers, the hosts could be in for another rough day.

Even if England opt to rest a few players for the match, they should still be too strong for the hosts as they aim for a whitewash.

Fantasy Tips

Wicket-Keeper

  • With three half-centuries in three matches since her arrival in Sri Lanka, Amy Jones is the undisputed choice for the wicketkeeper spot. Opening the innings for England, she will get ample opportunity to continue her good form and possibly reach the three-figure mark.

Batsmen

  • Tammy Beaumont and Lauren Winfield have also enjoyed their time in Sri Lanka, batting at the top of the order for England. The former will be especially keen to convert the starts that she has been getting into a big knock.
  • Harshitha Madavi is one of the few players who has managed to stand up to the English bowlers, scoring a half-century in the warm-up fixture and a knock of 42 in the 2nd ODI.

All-Rounders

  • The English duo of Heather Knight and Natalie Sciver joined by Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Atapattu.
  • S Siriwardene also a good option.

Bowlers

  • Shrubsole has been at her miserly best, conceding just 30 runs from 17 overs and picking up three wickets in the first two ODIs
  • Hartley made her chance count picking up three wickets in the previous match.
  • Ranasinghe, while being a tad expensive, has managed to be amongst the wickets as well as scoring an unbeaten half-century.
  • Fernando, like Hartley, sat out of the first game but made a brilliant impact in the second ODI, picking up three wickets.

Players to Watch out

The 28-year-old England skipper is an ever-consistent performer with both bat and ball and she has been on top of her game in Sri Lanka after a below-par tour of India.
